In September 2009 it became law for every new SENCO in a mainstream school to gain the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) within 3 years of taking up the post. The Department for Education have announced that this qualification requirement will change to an NPQ SEN from 2025. Sign up without delay to the NASENCO, before it is too late. This course will run in its current format for one more year, but in order to meet the new regulations this course will start earlier on August 19 2024. During the first two weeks we will provide you with the materials to complete a reading and reflection exercise as an introduction to the remainder of the course. This course is designed around the Learning Outcomes for SENCOs, specified by the Department for Education, and aims to develop expertise and confidence in the leadership of SEND in schools. SENCOs on this course will have access to a fully online, high-quality and interactive programme delivered by SEND experts and specialists. They will learn how to integrate theory and practice to support the development of their role and in turn, learn how to improve positive outcomes for pupils with SEND. This course is open to international colleagues who meet the entry requirements. The course lead and tutors are skilled at tailoring content to meet the needs of international colleagues, whilst also ensuring fidelity to the course programme.
